The Castle Keep is a unique venue at which to hold events. It consists of four floors with principle rooms on three of those floors. In addition the roof has panoramic views of the city and overlooks the river Tyne and its bridges. The Castle Keep holds a Theatre and Entertainment licence.

Event organisers are reminded that the Castle Keep is a scheduled ancient monument and as such it does not conform to the standards expected of a modern building. It does not have toilet facilities, running water, kitchen facilities or integral heating and access is challenging. The building is unsuitable for those with mobility difficulties due to the number and steepness of its stairs. Access (including wheelchairs) can be facilitated to the ground floor Garrison Room but not beyond. It is an offence to damage a scheduled ancient monument.
